Year 4 had the pleasure of ‘virtually’ welcoming V&A Illustration-Award Winner and author Kate Milner into their classrooms, via Zoom.

The visit was in connection to Year 4’s English work, based on Kate Milner’s books: ‘My name is not Refugee’ and ‘This is a no-money day’. The children were thrilled to ‘meet’ the author, listening intently as she described her journey to becoming an author, before she spent time answering their questions.

This event was an example of how staff are continuing to provide opportunities for educational enrichment, whilst adhering to COVID-19 regulations.

Mrs Milner is the recipient of a prestigious V&A Illustration Award. She studied illustration at Central St Martin’s before completing her MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University. Her work has been published in magazines and her illustrations and prints are exhibited in London galleries and national touring exhibitions.
“It was wonderful for Year 4 to be able to meet Kate Milner via Zoom. COVID-19 will not prevent us from providing opportunities for pupils to enhance their education. This was a great example of how technology can bring an exciting opportunity for learning into our classrooms and the children were thrilled to be able to learn about being an author, straight from the source!”
– Miss Petridou, Head of Upper School English
