Harvest Festival Collection in aid of the Spires Centre

Our Core Values encourage all Hornsby House pupils to develop a strong sense of community. In accordance with this, our annual Harvest Festival collection took place on the 29th September as a means to give to those who are less fortunate or who are in need of help and support during these challenging times.

As has become tradition, our harvest collection was in aid of The Spires Centre in Streatham.

Throughout the pandemic Spires have remained open, feeding the homeless and providing food parcels to those in need.  The number of people needing support has increased tremendously since March, therefore the demand for donations is greater than ever before. You can find out more about Spires by visiting their website: http://www.spires.org.uk/

Mrs Andrews (Charities Co-ordinator) arranged the transport logistics and implemented a COVID-compliant collection system in order to gather donations. Specifically, this involved setting up a ‘donation-station’ just outside the school entrance so that contributions could be collected and bagged or boxed, whilst maintaining a safe social distance. Donations included tins of food, long-life products, basic clothing and essential-care toiletries.

A team of Hornsby House staff volunteers transported the items to Spires, where they were gratefully received.

On behalf of the school, Mrs Andrews would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to the Hornsby House community for their wonderful generosity and kindness.
